We could all post some flower/insect/etc. pics on this thread with our own respective cameras (+ those of family members?) and see just how cheap/small you can use to get decent shots (+ 'movies').

I'm sure its a great camera Armandii but more than I would pay as a "beginner" I think.
A bit like me owning a Ferrari but only taking it to the Supermarket and back!

It's just a camera, Jenny:dunno::snork: A Ferrari is no good to me either, I can't get all my fishing tackle in it!!:lunapic 130165696578242 5:

I've been taking pics for decades [some good and some bad] and still have a Pentax SE SLR [film] camera and my wife's Olympus SLR camera stowed away in a wardrobe unused due to the arrival of the digital era. I've got a compact camera [Canon Powershot A590] for convenience at the moment but just feel the need to get back with an SLR camera, and what it can do, again. So if anyone has any opinions on the Pentax K5 I would be interested and obliged:snork:

What's the budget for this camera? Plus what are the requirements such as macro, long zoom, HD video, a few easy to use settings (amongst loads of others that will take ages poring through instructions to learn), etc. Sometimes a decent camera is found on special offer during a promotional sale (say another 20% off) and at the time the manufacturers are offering cashback on them, and they all combine for a really good price. And sometimes you can also get another few percent cashback from the likes of Quidco, etc. on top of all the other savings. Have a look at this link and go back through the pages for a couple of months or so http://www.hotukdeals.com/search?ac...y=3&type=1&date_range=365&sort_type=relevance (the 'temerature' of the deal to the left of the thermometer indicates how 'hot' it's been voted and is an indication of how good the deal is)

        Thank you Scrungee,
I have been browsing and found a panasonic Lumix FZ45 on Amazon. It's refurbished - £196.24 free p&p from "electrical deals".
        Any opinion please>

I think Mandy (Naylors Ark) has an fz45. I recently bought a Nikon p500 36x zoom but I reckon I would have been better off with the fz45 which I was originally going to buy.

Thank you for the reference to Mandy's camera. I wish I had a fraction of her photographic talent,

Taken with my TZ8. I thought about taking a movie of them, but decided to let them get on with it.

That's stunning Scrungee, thank you. TZ45 and TZ8. What's the difference and why did you choose yours?
