After watching the program on the tv last week about the hooliganism in the Ukraine the England fans are pussy cats in comparison. I think they will need the big bad dog

Did you notice the BBC keep repeat showing the same piece of film when discussing the conditions over there.
I wonder how we would feel is we were hosting the tournament and the foreign news people kept showing pics of football hooligans that still lurk in our midst.

they are perhaps trying to convince UK football hooligans that it is a bad thing to go there as they will be outnumbered, get their nuts cracked and pee in their undies

if UK football hooligans run riot there, it will look bad for the Olympics

Dim, I dont think many are bothering to go, and most of the hooligans are banned.

I've never been to either the Ukraine or a football match anywhere, so maybe I know nowt. But it seems to me that the news showed two pieces of 'evidence' that Ukrainians are racist to the core.

The first piece of evidence they showed was some football fans doing what the reporter decided was a nazi style salute. Was it? Maybe it was. I've never seen an actual nazi salute so I have no point of reference other than what I've seen in old war films, which didn't really look to me like the same thing as the football fans were doing. In any case, why would they be doing a nazi salute? I'm pretty sure I was taught in school that the people of that neck of the woods have more reason to hate the nazis than most.

The second piece of evidence showed the sickening violence against a group of Asian fans. I can't say that wasn't racist, because it could well have been, but I've heard many tales of white English lads picking fights with other white English lads over football, so maybe whatever the spark that started the attack, maybe it was nothing to do with skin tone or ethnicity. I don't know, my point is that anyone with the same information as me (which I suspect is most people) also can't know. We have the journalist's word for it that the whole population of the Ukraine are neo-nazi racist fascists.

I'm not saying there all neo-nazis, I'm saying that they have there own problems with holliganism. As a football fan I get a bit fed up with hearing people on about England hooligans instead of the proper fans who go to tournament as I have on many occasions to enjoy themselves. But as Pete said an awfull lot of the hooligans in this country have been banned.

Looks like their tactics may have been put to good use last night, given the violence between the Russian and Polish fans.

Good on them I say, I just wish our Police had the same weapons are their disposal to deal with the scumbags during the riots last year.

I've been caught in the middle of football violence many times over the years so I just hope no innocents get hurt. Not blaming the Police at all because when you are in that situation it's difficult to judge.
