    Good Evening,

After my previous venture onto the forums when my lawn was patchy with loads and loads of weeds, i stupidly used a weed killer that killed grass (spray one) on a lot of the weeds. This resulted in the lawn looking awful. Since then, i have applied Verdone Extra to cope with the weeds and the lawn is looking better now. Much greener, a few weeds remain (which i have since sprayed with the Verdone Weed Killer Spray).

All i have left now are patches of dead weeds/grass. My next task is to seed these patches.

Am i right in thinking the process should be something like the following?:

    1. Scarify the lawn to remove any dead weeds/grass.
    2. Mow the lawn fairly low.
    3. Aerate (this is where the thread title comes into play)
    4. Add some growmore
    5. Add some grass seed
    6. Cover with some topsoil

On point three, has anyone ever used aerating shoes? Like the things you attach to the bottom of your shoes that aerate?

Shall i take photos from here in to show the improvement? Wont take any today as its chucking it down

A young lady I know used to play in a home made pair that her dad made her, way before some clever sort figured they could make a business out of them. My friend's pair was just two bits of wood with nails in, and some straps to secure them to her boots. The best part, she thought they were just a novel pair of shoes made by her dad for her entertainment. She didn't realise that as she played, her dad was sat back relaxing watching his lawn getting aerated for him:)

Glad to hear the lawns improving trigger. I've often wondered about these shoes as well. One of my lawn's is 60 x 45ft and I'm not prepared to go over that with a fork, it would take ages. So I'd be interested to know if these work too. :)

Thank you guys. I was contemplating the idea of making my own, but then thought it would be a) a little risky and b) i cant be bothered with it :snork:

I only have a slightly patchy lawn so will be using a fork for the time being on the patches but will order some of the shoes for when the ground gets a little bit hard to help out.
