I was in the garden over the past week doing several jobs, cutting grass, weeding
squaring lawn edges, feeding plants and shrubs, trees, lifting and relaying slabs which had went off line, sealing decking,Etc,Etc Etc.:blue thumb:.

I was enjoying working till late evening,Till They Attacked,The Dreaded Midges
    and other flying,biting insects.
I swear they were waiting for me coming out the door, saying," Right Girls There He Is, It's Him With The High Alcohol Blood Count ,It's Happy Hour:dancy:.
I was bitten from my ankles to the tops of my legs,(wearing shorts).
I was bitten from my wrists to the top of my arms,(wearing T shirt ).
I was bitten on top of my head(they were tangled in my hair).
I discovered later ,after talking to some old neighbours, that a burn did flow through the bottom of my garden,(many years ago),and had been diverted when the houses were built. I have noticed the bottom of the garden is most of the time moist, and after heavy rain a lot of water gathers there.
with the weather we have been having, heavy rain/muggy these flying man eaters have been going MAD:yikes:. I have been using Vinegar for the bites .
    The Wife Say's 'I Smell Like A Chip'.. Any Tips:dunno:.

Actually rubbing salt on helps more.. I have a problem with bites & find this always works for me..
Simply moisten the bite area and then rub table salt on the moistened area. Itching should cease immediately.

Get some antihistamine on quickly. I didn't do this a couple of weeks ago and my arm got all infected. My kids said it looked like I had gone mouldy :(. Can't tell you to stop scratching though cos I couldn't

Run hot water onto a cloth as hot as you can stand it, then hold it on the bites, it'll draw the poison out and give almost instant relief. :)

Just another one my daughter told me about. In Canada (where she lives) they cut a lime up and rub that on, it works very well for bites apparently. :)

If you can't spray on any bug repellent before you go out (and I'm not surprised if you don't - I don't want to be near me wearing that stuff, so can only imagine how the bugs feel) - get yourself a tube of something called 'Eurax' (you don't need to go to a chemist for it, you can pick it up in supermarkets). It works within seconds and does what it says on the tube, 'Stops itching for 6 - 10 hours'.

                          Yes, but not for midges;)

I have an Erica, guaranteed preventative for getting bitten as she attracts them from all around!

What I find unusual is my mum and son-in-law are never bitten by bugs. My mum says it's because their blood is Rhesus Negative. Has anyone else found this?
