        I must remember to make a new years resolution, next year, to build an Owl box for my barn ... mean to do it every year and never remember ... good job my head is screwed on!

          Today I really must mow my lawn. Unless it rains of course, then I can put it off again. Only jobs I've done recently is trimming some unruly Elaeagnus and squirting/squishing a zillion aphids which have taken a liking to my Camellias.

            Bilbo and ARMANDII, I like your bird boxes :dbgrtmb: . I understand that each breed of bird is very fussy over the size of the entry hole so you have to have it just right for the breed you want. What ones are you trying to attract?

            Today will be the start of cutting down the Aquilegias. I don't compost them as the stems are too woody so I'll start by putting them in the green waste wheely bin. One wheely full will be enough for me as the job entails a lot of bending. I'll get the rest done, gradually, over the next week or so.

            Mowed the lawn, and planted out some of the most pathetic lupins you have ever seen. About ten inch tall and a single thin stem. If they don't pick up in a few weeks I will bin them a a bad job .... not had much luck with seeds this year, but that might be my inexperience ...

              Mowed the lawn at last (despite the odd spit of rain threatening me), and then got some weedkiller down on the weeds growing on the patio. I wish I could find the time to finish levelling the patio up so I can get the grout brushed in.

              Well, Shiney, I've drilled a one and a quarter inch of an inch entry hole for Tits and the like to nest [the official recommendation is one and one eighth of an inch, but I only had the one and a quarter inch spade end drill!!...I don't think an eighth of an inch is going to make a difference:snork: I make all my bird boxes as I have plenty of scrap wood in the Garage and at the moment I've got another 3 up around the garden with plans for probably another 3 or 4 more.:coffee:

                  Shiney, the hole on the box I have just put in the shed is 32mm, recommended for Great Tits, Sparrows, Nuthatches, but the smaller Blue Tits will of course still use it, although to try and attract them exclusively the hole should be 25-28mm. I'm not fussed as long as we get something, we've had nothing this year, but last year we had blue tits and a robin using boxes as well as a family of bees!!! in another one..:blue thumb:

                  In total we now have 9 boxes up and 2 nest/roost pockets (little things often used by wrens)..:biggrin:

                    Today iv Dressed 300 bricks and the compo on them was harder then Mike Tysons Head More Like Granet

                    Last Night I Worked 12 Hours its took me 8 Hours Today to Dress 300 got thru 7 scutch bits My Back and Neck Ake Like Iv bin Hit With a Hammer or Bat!!!

                    just keep telling my Self & OH It Will All Be Worth it in the end :dancy:

                    im going to take the wooden one down

                    well thats a lie my sistor wants it so told her and her bloke to play my game

                    take it down mend it and i will deliver it cus they love it

                    job done :WINK1:
