Miele for me? Blows the socks ( or sucks the socks) of any dyson!
We have owned a dyson and had no problems with it.
It does need bags but the amount of dirt it removes compared to the dyson it out ways it.
Buy the Miele turbo cat and dog s5261 and you won't regret it!
    Hope this helps
    Sean

That'll teach you to ask :lunapic 130165696578242 5:

There are dozens of makes out there so there will be dozens of preferences. They wouldn't continue to sell all those makes if people weren't happy to buy them. Viva la difference! :heehee:

A little old lady answered a knock on the door one day, only to be confronted by a well-dressed young man carrying a vacuum cleaner.

"Good morning," said the young man. "If I could take a couple minutes of your time, I would like to demonstrate the very latest in high-powered vacuum cleaners."

"Get lost!" said the old lady. "I haven't got any money" and she proceeded to close the door.

Quick as a flash, the young man wedged his foot in the door and pushed it wide open.

"Don't be too hasty!" he said. "Not until you have at least seen my demonstration." And with that, he emptied a bucket of horse manure all over her hallway carpet.

"If this vacuum cleaner does not remove all traces of this mess from your carpet, Madam, I will personally eat the remainder.

"Well," she said, "I hope you've got a good appetite, because the electricity was cut off this morning."

bit late on this, but we had a dyson, a Kirby and a Samsung, and a Hoover, and and a Vax! (don't ask, really don't! :snork: )

the samsung we use for everyday, the Hoover we use for the car. the dyson we gave away, and the vax finally broke. the Kirby was, well, a Kirby. it was poop. too heavy, agricultural and the dog did better at hoovering up bits.

To me, they are each as good as one another, but for different things.
i'll try a miele next as a mate has one and its sooo quiet.

asking what is best is like asking whats the best kettle, toaster or car. personal choice innit :blue thumb:

          My 2p worth.
In my travels I do see a lot of broken Dyson cleaners, but I often wonder is it because they sell more Dyson's, or is it because of the odd colours that I notice them more?

I also think that people genuinely forget that which ever brand you buy, its a vacuum cleaner for sucking up dust, yes, really, dust. Its not meant to suck up old screws, nail clippings, broken biscuits etc, the fact that people do use their vacuum cleaner for these items only shows ignorance.

I believe that its because people pick up other things, is what causes the premature failure of any cleaner.

A "bucket" cleaner is favoured by cleaning companies because it takes abuse the person using it gives it. But to be fair I think this is in some part down to the time constraint the boss gives them to clean a specific area.

Also "bucket" cleaners rarely have a moving brush to "beat the carpet" with in order to loosen any dust. Another point, I would like to mention is carpet pile. An office has a very short carpet pile (or even a solid floor covering) but a house often has a deep(er) carpet pile.

So if you want to be quick and clean offices, get a "bucket" cleaner if you want to clean your house get a "tubular" vacuum cleaner

But which ever you get, remember, unless it says otherwise, its only meant to pick up dust.

Me? I have a Kirby (no its not mine, but same model)

I'm on my second 'upright' Dyson, which is now coming to it's life's end. They've both been good cleaners and have never needed repairing. Having said that I wouldn't have another one now, they are to noisy and to heavy.

Just to add........I believe it says in the instruction manual not to use them for brick dust etc.
