I've cut the flowering stems to within an inch or two of the ground. Most of the leaf is left (it'll look good for quite some time) but some comes away when I cut the stems.

I prefer to keep the stems very low because the parts left can be quite vicious when moving your arms through the beds to get to other plants and weeds. It's also much more tidy not to have thousands of stems sticking up in the air.

potted up the last 15 coreopsis, cleaned up the poppies, thanks to slugs and snails the leaves looked dreadful, and also cut back the aquilegias as I think we have quite enough now

I spent 3hrs today pulling weeds out of a few new beds that I recently planted

I sorted the weeds 2 weeks ago, and there were loads again ...

Well Got in from work managed to mow the lawn!
Even after yesterday's torrential downpours and a mini one this morning!
Luckily me lawn slopes right to left :snork:
Weeded between all the bedding and trimmed back some grasses

I've mowed 7 lawns today (6 smallish ones in the same village), plus one large one in another village

on a side note ... bought a tom tom satnav today .... used to take me 30-35 minutes to drive to the home with the larger lawn without satnav ....

punched in the postcode this morning, and it was 6 minutes away from my home on a different route ... at first, I thought the tomtom was faulty

              :cry3:

wife and kids are still laughing .... (I'm dumb with roads, and even get lost in the village that I have been living for the past 10 years)

satnav is the greatest invention ever ....

                  :)

I have the latest technology now .... does eco routes and voice recognition and stuff I've never heard of before ....

used to have a tomtom go 910 when I had a van and when I used to deliver stuff I sold on ebay ....

london was sometimes a nightmare .... many times, I ended up in narrow roads with concrete pillars and had to reverse with a LWB ford transit
