        Gorgeous Liz, I have the Hymenocallis well a small bulb sent to me by a friend think it'll be a few years before its flowering size,never heard of the Deinanthe off for a google :biggrin:

        I love the Hymenocallis as well, do you leave these in the ground over winter?

        Mine are plunged in pots and come in for the Winter (although that is probably no measure of whether they NEED to!)

        Yes ,they need frost protection over winter. I have the Festalis, Harrisiana which has smaller flowers with a tiny trumpet, and Sulphur Queen which has a yellow middle. I have had some of them for about 5 years.
        The Deinanthe was a lucky buy from rare plants in a sale, it does well in the shady part of my garden. Flowers are lovely but like the Hellebores face downwards.

          Lovely Hymenocallis Liz.. :ThankYou: too for telling me the name of my Deinathe that I bought last year at a specialist plant sale.. I lost the label, but did remember it likes a shady spot.. :doh:

          I'm so pleased with the blue I've ordered a white one [Deinanthe Bifida] from here:-

          I've had some lovely plants from them and as they are in Scotland I hope they'll be hardy in Wiltshire.
