You've certainly been busy, Mr G, that's a lot of hard work to say the least. The old bird bath sounds interesting and worth saving!!:snork:

Finally got all the bags of turf to the dump. It took three trips. Thinking about whether i should mow the lawn before it rains ? Thats about it.

More dead heading and more weeding that i seem to constantly do. I planted four hornbeam today to make a start on my hedge screening. Not sure whether its the right time, probably winter but i popped them in nonetheless. I need another 10 plants but this will have to wait until i can get them bareroot in November.

Weed and fed the lawn. First time in years. I await the results. Folia fed the Box with seaweed extract. Dead headed and pottered. Collected more strawberries.
The last lot of slabs were delivered today. Will just need to fix a date now, and hopefully by the end of July, the paths should be in. :blue thumb:

Im having one of those self doubt days. You know "the garden's going to look rubbish when its done" and "have i done the right thing by this patio, is it too big, should i have designed it differently". I have these kinds of days, usually when some one criticises something. These people, usually have rubbish gardens themselves and wouldn’t know the first thing about gardening and think a garden is just a piece of lawn for the kids to play or the dog to she'ite on. Sorry, im a pit peeved.
On the garden front, i planted my Ribes Sanguineum on the wetter side of the garden. It wasnt doing very well in the pot and i thought i'd lost it when it didnt get any water whilst on holiday. I dug up and binned a Hosta today. Ive never liked it. Far too boring and in the wrong place. I still have two Hosta's but these are much nicer as they have a variegated leaf. One's in a pot, the other in the damp border. This one will be divided next spring as its a keeper. Dead headed, weeded, checked the grass. No difference after the feed and weed.

Don't do your brain in with self doubt. When the garden's finished enjoy it for a few weeks, walk around, sit in it (weather permitting) and admire your handiwork. Then if something doesn't seem right start to 'tweak'.

Oh, and one other thing......it's your garden, it doesn't matter what other people think! :WINK1:

Nothing much doing today. Had a look at the grass, the clover seems to be wilting. Bought three bags of compost. Wouldnt be without it. I would love to make my own but there's no room. One day, i will take over the play area for it, that and some chickens. Thats in the future though, when the kids have out grown the area. Ive thrown away my Box cuttings, none of them took, wilting and died. Back to plan B on these i think.

Miserable today. Not enough rain to wipe the day out but enough to get wet. Its weired. I was looking at the soil in my sunnier border today and noticed big cracks starting to appear where my clay has started to dry out. And thats after all the rain we have had. You cant win. Next spring, i will mulch the whole garden. Ive never done it as a whole before, just in patches. I feel that it needs it not only to improve the soil and retain moisture but to stop the pesky weeds as they have been terrible this year. The first flush of roses have now ended. I love the HT Roses as you get a second flush later.
