      Sorry for the sideyways pic.
I just bought these two Celosias from The Range for $2.99 (pounds not dollars! Computer is from Oz). I better have a little read up on the as I don't know anything about them - just thought they were so pretty.

Just put these in from Homebase. Ornithagalum from South Africa. Need to lift the bulbs for winter so i put them in front of the Bishop and Moonfire Dahlias which will get lifted too. They really stand out against the dark foliage.

Plus these have put in an appearance. Triteleia, planted last Autumn.

bargains galore today ... went to 2 carboot sales early this morning and ended up buying things that I don't need (as usual)

£5 got me a large X-Pro impact drill ... works perfect (had a look on google, could not find the exact same model, but similar costs well over £300)

£2 for a Scholl handheld massager ... not sure of the price, but must be well over £30 new

£2.50 for a large pressure cooker

£4 for a large galvanized watering can (missing the rose)

£5 for an old black forest cuckoo clock (I used to sell these on ebay and some used to fetch well over £100) ....

£3 for a large round make up mirror on a stand for my daughter (has a built in light etc)

lots of other things that I don't really need .... there were loads of plants there, but nothing that took my fancy

                      Hi Al -n ,
really nice plant , do not mean to be picky but , do you know that hostas really need shade !!! one really hot sunny day can burn all the leaves , plus did you put a root protection around the bamboo? bamboo can be one of the most agressive plant you will ever see , same with the lobelia queen victoria , it`s a bog plant really need water .:)

                          hi sal,

yes, i do realise that the hostas need shade ( more often than not) but these will tolerate full sun for a while as i have the same on the other borders and they're doing great guns (the sun is only on that part of the border for an hour or so anyway) and the bamboo has been planted in its pot. the lobelia will get all the water it needs.:blue thumb:
