I can't offer any advice but my mum suffers with MS and is completely house/wheelchair-bound. So to a degree I can understand how grateful your MIL is for you doing all of this.

I am however, taking notes on easy to maintain plant suggestions!

        Hi Kaz,

The hellebores I promised are too small to send yet but I'm looking after them. Mentioned a sumac on another thread which set me thinking about your MIL garden. To keep in check you'd need to pot it up but they're interesting trees and I could give you some right now if you're interested, let me know.

Google stags horn sumac for pics if you're not sure.

        Hi Kaz,

Off to work now. It's a lovely plant and always attracts comment. The downside is it will spread but the upside to that is it's easy to get rid of the suckers, in the lawn they just get mown, anywhere else you can easily dig them up. Most years I leave a few suckers in my garden and friends nearly always say "keep that one for me" so I give away several every year. I'm allowing four to grow this year as my daughter is moving house and she wants at least one. As I said if you grow it in a pot it will reach a fair size and won't spread. I can send you some pics of mine if you want.

        hiya
it can be kept in a pot then i think it would be great for mams back garden give me a shout when you want to come and pick it up, or we could wait untill the helebores are ready and get them all at the same time, but what ever suits you best
        thanks :wub2:

OH my forgive me kath i hadnt seen this message, no thank you re the extra lavender i have scavanged quite a bit now lol, terry took some pictures when we were down there this week he shall pop them up in a mo,
i still have an awful large amount to go down to mams just bringing them on at mine for the time being ( dont want to have to move them to often when the builders move in )
decking boards were half price in the local shed this week so i have bought what i needed to make her raised bed area (will cut and stain before i take it down) and i already have the fencing cut and stained ready for when i replace the front wall, so it get there, mam says every one comments now when they pass and she enjoys the variety of plants
so thanks again to all that have encouraged and or inspired me not forgetting those that has made it possible
