    Hi all..
I am totally new to gardenong/growing, please bear with me if I don't explain myself in the correct way.

I am having a go at growing some strawberrries and tomatoes, the strawberries have done ok, me and the missus have over watered them a bit as we have lost one plant and had some brown leaves on another.

We were given three tomato plants in a very sorry state. I placed them in a 1M long x 20cm x20cm Trough in a good compost, They have shot through the roof and are at the top of their canes already (about 4 weeks). Now looking at them , I think I may have them way too close together, they are just starting to flower, is it safe for me to transplant one plant now in another deep pot to give them a chance?

    Thanks for any adive given

    Kev

I would think they would be alright, not ideal but alright. Just keep them moist (not waterlogged!!) and start feeding them now they are in flower.

I think that trough would be more suited to two plants but if you try to move one now you will knock flowers off.

    Hi Steve..

Apologies for the typos, sometimes my fingers travel faster than my brain!

Thanks for the advice, I am going to double the canes up, as it has amazed me how quickly they have shot up..

Fine also on the feeding advice, I have kept off watering with the deluge that has been of late, but will need to start a bit of feeding now. I am using tomorite, is that a good starter for ten?

My missus is really enjoying the strawbs and possibility of our first Tomatoes.. Bet you've had it rough up your neck of the woods!!

No problem, we all do it.

    Yup, that'll do it.

Not too bad now that the river is back where the river should be, Cockermouth has had some minor flooding with a few homes getting wet again. Not very nice really when most people are just getting back to normal after the serious 2009 floods.

Enjoy your tomatoes! You realise of course that this grow your own lark is addictive.

    Steve...:)
