:doh:Sorry strongy .....I think is a 'Jenningsii' , they only grow to 4 inches max , got it from Thailand , didn`t belive that actually come out , seen a complete lawn made out of it , the thai giant are coming out as well from seeds , but i think i lost the climbing colocasia , wich still don`t know the name of it.

That's a small one, do the leaves become more colour intense?

My C Illustris has been slow to start and I'm leaving it in the pot, C Esculenta has really taken off since I planted it a month ago. I'll take some pics tomorrow.

I planted my Impatiens niamniamensis in the garden a few weeks ago. I wouldn't say that it's thriving, but it is in bloom.............

Not sure that it's truly exotic, but a real rarity is Cerinthe palestina...............

Lotus berthelotii on the other hand is positively rampant this year!

LongK - your Lotus berthelotii is superb.

My Impatiens niamniamensis from cuttings did flower this year, but now looks as though it has been killed by red spider mite. Luckily I still have the mother plant in another place, but they get very big and out of shape after only a year. I also have another pot of cuttings outside, which is not very happy with our weather. But the good news is that I don't think RSM likes the rain much either.

Sal, does the Chlorophytum and Setcreasea (Tradescantia) overwinter inside?

Strangylodon , up to 2007/8 I had the Chlorophytum outdoor overwintering with no protection , it was dying down in winter and comeback in May , but in the last 3 years not a chance (didn`t try), I still want to try to overwinter one outdoor , but this time i will try to protect with a plastic dome and mulching .
the tradescantia , have survived outdoor in a pot in a dry position, plus last winter has been really dry, will die down and comeback in May , well worth a try .
About the colocasia , really don`t know , but it was a different color , i think is just lack of light.
this one is the cutting who has been outdoor and coming back.

and this picture I think is from 2008
              [IMG]
I don`t know if that was luck of what , but at the time i was manage echeverias , cannas, yucca elephantis , date palms , papyrus and sweet potatoes .
I`m tempted to try papyrus outdoor again , my best one this year was the thalia , survived outdoor .

I have seen Fire flash for sale in GCs but at first didn't recognise it as a Chlorophytum.
Next year I will must growing Eucomis again.:blue thumb:

still got the eucomis , they are hard as steel , in 2010 winter the soil froze down to 2 inches , tryed to dag some bulbs out but no chance , they survived -14 with no loss.
from that lot I think I still have the cannas , the eucomis and the echeveria von perle .

Were the Colocasias and Cannas left in the ground in winter?

Not much growth here but some flowers on my Bougainvillea from Madeira.

If anyone remembers (Pete, Vicky?) I brought two potted Plumerias back from Madeira one of which was in bud and flowered on our return home, is multi branched now and has hardly moved but the other one with very little leaf new growth, although straight up and over 3ft high, has a bud forming.
