    Hi,
I bought a Fiskars weed puller on special offer £24.99. I was a bit sceptical whether it would work but was pleasantly surprised. It does leave small holes in the lawn but for someone like myself with mobility problems it's very handy.
Sometimes I need to use crutches and can still use the weedpuller. Well worth getting one.

What, on offer at £25...? That's still a rip-off price surely. For that money I'd at least want a power tool. I'm pleased that you like it Dave, but I don't see that "special offer" as any kind of bargain...

    Regards,
    Steve

LowiePete I agree I still think it's a lot of money for what it is but they are £35+ everywhere else. At least it allows me to still weed the garden myself.

Seems like a good price , they are £32 on Ebay and Amazon . And if it does the job and you are delighted with it , then its a bargain :blue thumb:

    I've tried one ...

they are good if you are old and struggle to bend .... works easily in soft lawns (when the soil is damp .... I have not tried it when there is little rain and the ground is hard)

they leave a fairly large hole though ....

I'm sorry, but £10 off an already outrageous price doesn't qualify it as a bargain. It's one of those "endless self-fulfilling prophesies" - we charge more because of little demand... Absolute nonsense! Makes me very angry that traders can get away with it. For example: look at how much extra "disabled" hand-rails are on eBay :gaah:

    Regards,
    Steve

Our local antique market had some old dandelion pullers for sale recently. Look like a giant corkscrew but they were only £5 so I thought I'd buy one - at that price I didn't haggle. Guess what? It works. Those old gardeners knew a thing or two.

Well, whatever you paid, if you think it's a good deal, then surely that's good enough?

I've got one of these - I was lucky enough to be given it as a gift - and I've found it great at getting daisy and dandelion out of my grass (I would call it a 'lawn' but ......!). Since I can't kneel, I find it invaluable for getting dandelion, dock and other deep rooted weeds out of borders too.

Without wishing to preach to the converted, all I would say dave is - if you're using your crutches, for heaven's sake mind the gruyere cheese effect these things can leave behind in your lawn.

That sounds like a very wise investment. Getting down on your hands and knees to pull weeds is a pain in more ways than one!
