Probably a bit late, depends how big the trays are. But plant them anyway, what have you got to lose? You will probably get a reasonable result. You could plant them slightly deep as they often root from the stem.

Tree Lilies take a few years to establish, so best to take advantage of the remainder of the current year's growing season. Make sure you plant them deep enough (if they are in a "tray" currently that won't be deep enough!). I have some 6" deep in "Rose" pots [which are much deeper than normal pots] because their final spot wasn't ready in the Spring.

I love lillies, mine are well on their way and yes the lilly beetles have been very busy this year, they have been in the ground over a year now, Dad had them in a large planter so I'm crossing my fingers that they get some height this year.

I bought some 'Crystal' Tree Lilies from T&M this year, advertised as flowering sized bulbs and that they could get to 8ft within a 3 years....

I potted them up in large pots, kept them in the "blow-away" to get them going and I'm very happy to say that they are now between 2 & 3ft tall and covered in flower buds; not tall this year but as I understand it they get taller each year, so I'm very happy so far, can't wait for the flowers..:dbgrtmb:

Freddy they are looking very good, some nice height there, mine don't seem to have so much :dunno: and the buds are just coming, still rather small, think we need some serious sun at this end, can not wait to see yours in flower :)

      Hi folks.

As promised, a pic of the Tree Lilies this year.

They're around 6'6" tall, on average. The weather hasn't been too kind to them, so the flowers aren't lasting as long. They smell nice though:)

      Cheers...Freddy

Ooooh, they look cracking! Thanks Freddy :)

As a matter of interest, how did you get rid of the lily beetles? I have an Asiatic Lily in a planter that has suffered badly with lily beetles this year (mostly due to my ignorance not knowing what the little red blighters were!), and I reckon that its done for now as I didn't do anything to get rid of the beetles.

I'd consider some of these for my garden, especially as they come back year after year, but would hate to lose them to beetles.

Thanks Freddy - as it happens, I got some Provado to deal with a bad blackfly problem earlier in the year, and its worked a treat. I might give the lily a spray later tonight and see if that will kill of any larvae that might be lurking in the bulbs?

          Hi F/C

It's systemic, so there shouldn't be any hiding place;)
