as I stated on my "new guy" thread, I moved into a house that the same family had for 50 years, so I am in the process of doing the garden, it is proving to be as hard as the house itself, 3 layers of wallpaper on the living room ceiling?
Anyway i will post some pics of the work in progress.

This is the side bit to my garden, the largest part, I have a wee bit round the back that's basically used for drying clothes, though I have built 2 small raised beds as my wife wants to grow veggies. My boundary stops at the end of the cotoneaster hedge, then my neighbours starts, i can't believe they never had a fence or hedge along here, but hey ho. The buxus, the cotoneaster and Hypericum are all gone, that's for a later pic.

Fence up, seclusion and boundary marked for the first time in 50 years, the bit beyond the fence nearest the red car belongs to s as well but there is a bit of a drop in height, I plan in the coming years to turn this into a mainly wild garden.

              Hi Saorsa,
what a lovely project ahead of you. A fresh "blank canvas" to work on. Fresh as opposed to NEW:gaah:. ie - no half bricks or old lumps of cement left as souvenirs by the builders. Looks nice and open with the chance of good sunshine access. Enjoy getting to know your soil and planting your heart and soul there,
              Jenny

As a landscape gardener to trade i know exactly what you are talking about, the amount of times i have went into new builds to lay a lawn and the rotovator hits bricks or that twine stuff that holds pallets of bricks together!

Thanks penny. heres the next installment[IMG]
lawn (if you can call it that) down, shrub beds created. Trellis built and a wee bit for my shed where i can go and hide. The bit to the right of the photo has no drainage and with the amount of rain that has fallen the grass is struggling, that bit is basically a swamp :(

But you'll need a pond in the middle to show the Gunnera off. Just dig a big hole this weekend and hey presto! Next week's update will have it ready to stock with some nice fish.
