What jobs are we doing today in the garden ?

Not much done today. Been fishing
Just watered pots on the front and put the soil back were the bloody cats have been digging again
Will give everything a good watering tomorrow morning, coz were going Newcastle for a few days

 

Despite my loathing for all of this rain, it has at least now made the ground soft enough in our small woodland area for me to fork over without breaking my wrists, so that was task one.
I also planted the leeks out, and also the third lot of sweet corn.
I nipped to the garden centre to get a few herbs and also got suckered into buying yet another Rhodo.
The bulk of the weekend though, has been spent trying to get the outside loo a step nearer to completion. Thanks to Ebay and the local dump, I now have a toilet, a new basin with taps for 99p and a kitchen sink with tap.
Before fitting any of these, I first had to insulate and board it out. Windows aside, this has pretty much been the only expense, and as expected I ran out of materials!

The photos don't really make it that easy to see. The table and chairs were also a freebie from a job.

 

I like the trellis - are there horizontal batons on the back to match the ones on the front? or is it "kept off the wall" in some other way?

 

Can you let us know what you bought? It's impossible to come away from there without buying something you never thought you wanted! I still treasure the garden maps showing layout and names. I ticked loads of them but would need a paddock to grow them in. Still, you gotta have a dream....

 

I made the trellis at Easter time using tile batten. I would have liked to have made the trellis on the window side to match the pitch of the roof, but as I had pre cut the batten, it was too late to anything about it.
There are just some small wooden blocks that keep the trellis away from the weather boarding.

Just heard on "Breakfast TV" Final 4 hosepipe bans being lifted today,

Where did I put that paddle for my canoe

 

It hasn't been to bad around here we have had a fair bit of rain but we have had a fair bit of sunshine I can't remember the last time we had a hose pipe ban an my sweetpeas have come on a treat over the last few weeks.

 

I did that the day that the hosepipe ban was lifted here. Blinking thing was useless, wouldn't squirt to save its life, and I was cursing and moaning about having to shell out on a new one ... then I remembered I had the other tap on full bore (that one is straight off the mains ...) filling up the pond
