Some people don't deserve to breath the same air as the rest of us.

    http://rnli.org/NewsCentre/Pages/Filey-RNLI-lifeboat-station-targeted-by-thieves.aspx

Basically, Filey's inshore lifeboat wont be going to work for a while, as the quad that tows it out has been nicked.

I hate to be mean, but I believe in karma, and it will serve the thieves right if one day, through some improbable chain of events, they need the services of the RNLI crews, who for whatever reason are unable to get to them in time.

That is despicable. Copying the link to facebook, lets make that quad bike so hot it burns them.

it's sad, but it's a sign of the times

too much unemployment and these things happen ...

where I come from, you will be sitting at a red traffic light, and your passenger window will get smashed with a hammer and your satnav will be ripped off your windscreen in seconds, and if you are a woman, your handbag gets taken too in a matter of seconds

my brother had his rayban sunglasses ripped off his face at a red traffic light while he waited for the green light (with his drivers side window open) ... he was well cheesed off

my mom who is nearly 80 years old, went to an ATM to withdraw cash ... a lad stuck a screwdriver in her side and threatened to stab her unless she withdrew the max daily allowance (in broad daylight)

things will get worse .... here in Cambridge, they now ramraid stores, steal all the cigarettes and booze and even rip out cash machines with 4X4's within minutes

Unemployment is no excuse. I've been unemployed. I didn't ever even once decide to help myself to other people's stuff.

different place we live in, as if you are unemployed here, the state will feed and help you and your children

when you have no money to buy food and the basics, and no immediate family to assist you, you too will revert to crime to feed your children

        it's sad

True, but this theft happened in Filey. Which is in the UK, which is one of the most generous nations in the world when it comes to making sure people are ok. We have a welfare system that ensures that people don't have to steal in order to eat, and in any case, if it was that, wouldn't it have been easier for them to rob the post office or something rather than having to try to sell a distinctively painted quad?

Quads are being nicked all the time, there something about them

One person i know had one nicked, so he then buys another one second hand paided cash as he wants it on the cheap, but he paided good money for his old bike :oopss::scratch::sick0026:

Given just how many quads go missing, I'm a bit suprised that it didn't have a tracker fitted.

Lets just hope that it can be replaced sooner rather later.:frown:

This may be so, but there are two noteworthy points here:

        1. Travellers are not all the toe rags they are often portrayed to be. They often settle for a few weeks or months on waste land not far from us. They make their money by collecting and selling scrap metal, doing labouring jobs, or anything else that will make them some money. No different to when middle class kids pick olives and grapes in France to fund their travels.

        2. Being on the dole, not being on the dole, or any other financial state, none of these things are an excuse for burglary.

If the thefts continue, then maybe VIN plates or similar identification will need to be introduced?

Would be no good. The thieves will just removed all ID numbers and plates. Years ago my dad had a motorbike nicked. It was found, but my dad had a right job getting it back off the coppers, as first he had to prove it was his, even though the coppers said they believed it was. The trouble is the engine number and the frame number had both been filed off, and of course the reg plat had long gone. It was only because the bike had some non-standard features that my dad was able to offer reasonable proof that it was his.
