Probably just there for belt and braces. The LD50 [**] on Glyphosate (if that is what your weedkiller is?) is , relatively speaking, very low. The Surfactant (i.e. soap) in the weedkiller which makes it stick to the plant is usually more toxic than the Glyphosate itself. So compared to, say, 2-4-D and whatever was in the old Weedol (something like Gramoxone I expect) you would be very unlucky to have a serious accident with Glyphosate. (Glyphosate IS toxic to Fish however)

Having said that, getting into the habit of treating all such chemicals with respect means that when you do handle something more noxious (like 20% instead of 5% Vinegar for example ...) you will naturally be adopting "best practice" and more likely stay safe.

Just to throw in the mix I read recently coffee watered onto soil kills slugs & snails and that was in monthly magazine I get that hold a very big show in May !!.

Not instant though, freshly ground and brewed even the slugs and snails are going
up-market .

coffee grounds do not work on the snails and slugs in Cambridge .... one of my clients got loads of coffee grounds for free from starbucks on a weekly basis, as she did not want to use slug pellets due to the bird feeders in her garden

result .... all her hostas look like a sieve .... she said that next year she will use the pellets

the coffee grounds also messes with the ph of the soil

Perhaps it needs to be boiling hot and applied directly onto them?

How can they ban (or even prove that you've used) natural substances in your own personal garden? If I drop a pickle on my porch, will I be arrested? These laws are stark raving mad!
