Another lilly opened today so I have been taking pictures, like a woman possessed :th scifD36: have to get them quick before the slugs and snails do, I think mine must have a secret rockets and homing device, because they always seem to beat me to it, I love lilies and poppies but both appear to be the favorite of slugs and snails :th scifD36:

Was also told that my bamboo was "clump" forming, I now have evidence this is sooooo not the case  I have a runner :cry3: :wallbanging: and its heading for my sedum

I have been thinking about this, but I'm sure another post was inquiring about bamboo in a pot, they decided against it as the pot would need to be huge, at the moment the bamboo is in the front garden, basically all the rubble from having the drive done was thrown in, then slate thrown on top, I dug down managed to remove some rubble/ house bricks added soil then "plonked" the bamboo in, I think I will have to continue to research this issue, eg put in pot, or just re home, extremely limited on space :dunno:

Been a reasonably productive day here, and thankfully it stayed dry. I got the lawnmower out first thing, and chewed the top off the grass (wish I could say that I mowed it, but it was so long and so wet, it was a battle); then, with help, I assembled a 10ft trampoline for our daughter, re-built our garden table (was dismantled when we moved at the end of last year), pressure washed the chairs, cleared away a lump of tree that I had hacked off a couple of weeks ago; pressure washed the patio, driveway and front garden.

I also pulled up the errant buddleia that had self seeded up against the house - its roots were right up against the brickwork in the tiniest gap between the house and the patio, and in fact there were two of them; the bigger one didn't come with much in the way of roots, but I have replanted it anyway to see if it survives, and have stuck its smaller neighbour into the same hole in the hope that one of them will come.

Then it was onto fixing the wee ones bike, and moving the courgettes out from their position under the net to a sunnier spot on the gravel in front of the fence, before sprinkling them liberally with slug pellets as they have been getting a proper hammering by our slippery little enemies.

On the bright side, a few snails met their end in the lawnmower, with a few more having a stinging exit courtesy of the pressure washer (oh, and a few were given a crash course in aeronautics into the lane nearby)

And lastly, a couple of stonking big cucumbers were harvested from the polytunnel - one of them will be going to a workmate tomorrow.

I have just done a "Folly Mon"

Well thinking back, the intial damage happened when I tried to throw my leg over the saddle to take grandkids on a bike ride,, The saddle was higher than I could kick my leg initially, but I managed, then with some sort of muscle pain, bagged up ten bags of builders rubble, only to find I can not straighten up, pure agony, when I try to straighten up, but I managed it, now it is pure agony trying to bend down or sit

I have put myself on Ibuprofen and co-codamol 30/500 only it spaces me out, I can not feel any pain though until they wear off :-(

Managed with great pain to feed the Tomatoes

Oh hell, that sounds bad Jack. I can recommend those self-heating pad things to give a bit of additional relief - Curaheat I think they are called. Might be worth getting someone to nip to the chemist for you in the morning.

I hope the pain killers give you peace overnight.

This is reminding me of "Comfortably numb" Pink Flloyd. You're all gonna be spaced out and fit for nothing.
May I suggest you go over to the new Pink Flloyd thread and chill out guys !!

I'd kill for a cigar right now.

I gave up smoking 9 years ago, and to this day I still have periods where I want a smoke. I am one of those lucky sorts who can have a couple of cigarettes, and then not bother again for years (the last one I had was about three years ago), but I always feel angry with myself when I cave in, so I tend to ignore the pangs.

One thing is for sure, I couldn't afford to smoke at all nowadays, never mind the amounts that I used to.

When I start to "feel" my back I use a wheat bag heated in the microwave, (heat for backs ,ice for everywhere else ) take a rest as long as possible, nice cup a tea and a slice of cake ,as "freddie "says or used to, then at least I can get through to tidy up etc.
