There is a place near my in-laws home in Fauldhouse, west Lothian called Ridgeview nursery http://www.ridgeviewnursery.co.uk/

They have an 'open' day at the end of next month (August). I`ve never been to the open day but since we will be there visiting anyway, we shall toddle along and hopefully pick up some very good quality Dahlies.

I know you would. I had you in mind all the time I was posting this thread Al :snork: I`ll report back after we`ve been and let you know how it went.

They obviously do mail order mate so maybe something to think about next spring. I`ve actually been to the place as they also do holly wreaths and they`re very professional.

I too love dahlias. Grow most of them seed but this years aren't doing very well and combination or slugs and rubbish weather.
I too would be there like a shot if I lived there!
Was going to order from these earlier this year but funds wouldn't allow it :nonofinger:

Still thinking of ordering some now though

I have the same one mate :blue thumb:

I know it`s a bit early to be asking this but since this is where the Dahlly fans will be........

When over-wintering, can you just move all the pots into a frost free garage or garden shed? I`ve seen that you should wrap the tubers in newspaper etc etc. So would keeping them in their pots do just the same?

          lovely aint it??

i think moving the pots in a frost free place should be fine., thats what i'm doing with the pot which contains both callas, cannas and dahlias. i'll cover with mulch and make sure that its fairly dry.

the dahlias in the borders i'm digging up and going to keep them in the garage or the shed in some dry compost.

          Cheers Al.

This is one I got a couple of weeks back.

It`s almost a full circle of blooms. Like a little crown on it.
