Ive had a look on ebay, bradshaws look cheapest but i will keep looking around :) darrans softening to my idea  we was thinking of running a stream from one the other but as i recall watergarden & armandii thought they maybe probs with flooding on the lower pond so enlarging the frog pond with land we are not using is a good option :blue thumb:x

Strewth. I feel like my garden is minute now. It's only around 30ft at it's longest, and 15ft at it's widest (there's a small kitchen extension thinning the length and width in one corner). If I had the space Joolz I'd definitely expand to a larger pond. I love ponds. I've gone from a titchy 70x70cm pond, and I'm now at my tiny 120x80 pond. Space has run out now though.

I'd love a pond like Simbad's (it's really nicely done, Simbad, the plants look great). I think we'd have to swim for the back gate though if I put that in my tiny patch.

The more fish the merrier, I say. A pond looks better with more than a few fish! Like others have said, mating is most likely the motivator, although it is possible that you have an aggressive fish on your hands.

Ive seen him chase them 3 seperate times over the months ,up to now i can see 2 sizes of fishlets so i guessing the might be another batch on the way :dunno:i dont mind having lots but i thought they needed so much space per fish or lack of space stunted their growth??

They do need space / fish.

But it does not "stunt their growth" (That is a very popular misconception) as is, a fish only grows to the size of where its living (Bowl being the most common)

              Put it like this.

When you, I or anyone else is born would that person stop growing if you put them in a box?
Of course not, its the same with any living thing, it will grow and grow until its DNA says "Though shalt grow to x and stop there"

But back to fish, the error comes about because fish are small and will physically fit in a small space, so that's what people do. BUT fish do not have toilets in their homes, they literally swim in their own poop. This increases the ammonia and other toxic levels in water, and this can eventually kill them.
Ponds have plants. The plants actually use the "poop" as fertiliser so for a while you are ok, this is called a pond being in balance, but its hard to maintain / achieve so dedicated pond owners install filters etc (another subject) but when you get too many fish or not enough plants the fish die.

Oh, good, that means there's a good chance I might get some more fish from the ones in the pond.:hapydancsmil:

The amount of rain we have been having will contribute to algae .
Mine is only a little 1m2 raised pond around 60cm deep.
I've got 8 fish in there, 2 pots of iris and a miniature water lily.
