    Hi,
I have some young ground covering perennials that seem to be suffering due to a red ants nest. I was wondering if I could use Nippon ant killer liquid. I don't like killing things but the nest is getting big and the two plants they are under look like they are dying.

Hi Dave, well, liquid ant killer should work...if you've got enough of it:heehee: Some people use the powder form with caster, or the like, sugar mixed with it so that the ants take it back into the nest with fatal consequences.:rolleyespink:

Can't you simply destroy the nest manually, brush all soil off the covered plants and watch where the next nest will be build ?? Had this problem myself, but they had no chance to build big, though, so my plants were lucky

    Thanks for the replies everyone.
The problem is the plants are in an area which has been weed sheeted and covered in blue slate. It will eventually be a rockery of sorts. I cannot dig them out so will try some form of poison which will carried back into the nest. Thanks HarryS I shall have a look at ant stop.
