I need ideas how to cut this grass!!

This is one of my small grassed areas, my plan is to cut out a neat half circle around the rose in the centre and then keep the grass looking really nice. By really nice I mean like a bowling green at least that is what I am aiming for, the grass is fine blade ornamental grass and is growing nicely but, and this is the problem, HOW do I cut it? as you can see it is in a dip so it can't be mowed as you just can't purchase a cylinder mower small enough, a strimmer doesn't give a nice enough finish, so does anyone have any good ideas please!!! I purchased some long handled lawn shears with the idea of doing it by hand but they are just too heavy to hold for any length of time, I also have edging shears. This is it!!!

a good petrol flymo .... but they are not cheap ... they dont collect the grass, but if you mow twice a week during the growing season with a sharp blade, it will look good

I have the one smaller than this with 12" blades but the side wheels are really thick and as the grass is in a dip it leaves a lot of grass uncut!

bosch rotak ... best electric mower that I have ever used and cheap .... it even does stripes and picks up wet grass

 

*dim* these are all excellent mowers which you are suggesting but this is a VERY small area in a dip!!!!! One of these mowers would almost cover it, but thank you for the suggestions!!

Yes, I'm beginning to think you are right!! doing it by hand will be the only way unfortunately.

try a bog standard flymo and see if it can handle the dip (If you don't have one, borrow one) ... many people have these but get the small one without the grass catcher box

 

Why not try to get rid of that dip? Lift the turf and add and compact some soil in the dip and then replace the turf.

I'm puzzled because my experience of flymo as a brand is all bad. Although I've only encountered 3 examples so maybe not representative.
