The Tadpoles are still Tadpoles, Joolz:heehee: They seem to be doing okay anyway. I keep hearing the occasional plop in the pond from the couple of frogs that seem to like it there and Jenny hasn't brought any more into the house.:cat-kittyandsmiley:

If 2 are chasing 1 then it could be bullying!! You may have a male & female who want the pond to themselves and are chasing the other one away I have kept fish for over 15 years so I am well aquainted with their behaviour!:)

I put a pond heater in the pond during the Winter. They're very inexpensive to run, simple to fit, and do a great job of keeping the pond with a ice free area.:snork:

Not really, Joolz.:dunno::snork: Go on the Net and get one of the floating type, they're not cheap, around £15 - £18 but once fitted save you a lot of trouble.:snork:

Above is a floating pond heater, they keep an area around the heater free from ice so that oxygen can get in and any gasses get out. Despite their name, they do not heat the pond, for that you would need something like

And being electric you would need lots of money to run it too. As a side note, some koi keepers do heat their ponds in winter, and they use a gas boiler, just like you may have.

I know the floating pond heater is only for surface ice but i was thinking it did warm the whole surface  i used the football last winter :) i should get a thermometer aswell its been on my list since november,i pray we have another mildish winter again x
Im hoping the little ones make it through thou if nothing eats them before :cry3:

Well, Joolz, you don't need to heat the whole pool......unless you're going for a dip!! The idea of the floating heater is, as you say, only to create a hole in the ice should there be any so that any noxious gases can escape and not kill the fish, and that's all you need.
Heating the whole pool is a completely different thing altogether:nonofinger::snork:

Sorry, Joolz, missed that last post.:snork: No, to be honest, having only just come back from the fishing holiday in the Rutland Area, sorting out the garden, helping my sister move house, etc, etc, has not left me time to do a lot of jobs. But I will check as soon as I can, but not tomorrow as my sister is finally making the move from Nantwich to Wem tomorrow and I'm taking her there so that will be all day tomorrow tied up!:snork:
