Of course, you have to know your audience. I once watched a 'psychic' who kept asking if a member of the audience had a budgie, or knew anyone who had a budgie. Now, that wouldn't work with sloanes or royals, would it? No good asking the Queen if she's got a budgie. It would have to be a dawg or a nice horsey.

      Clara Lou,
how are you with Magicians? Are you also so sceptical that you won't allow yourself to be entertained? I really love a live Magician and am so easily duped I find it both fascinating and very entertaining.

I don't mind magicians, because we all know that they aren't magical, they're just using skill and props to create an illusion. The audience is encouraged to be sceptical and ask how on earth the showman pulled off the stunt. The trouble with psychics is that they do the opposite: they encourage people to be gullible and they prey on people when they're feeling at their lowest.

When you witness something you don't understand, it is magic, and remains so until you understand it.

After the last war, many parents who had lost their children in the cause, turned to Spiritualism in an attempt to get in touch.
I remember my dad used to go to one of these churches; mum used to say "he's gone off to the Spooky Do". They were very popular - as were Ouija Boards for the same reason I think. Who are we to say that it was wrong to seek comfort in this way?
        Then or now,
        Jenny

Well, maybe if it were a free service (although even then I'd feel a bit uncomfortable) ... but the point is that Psychic Sally is making a tidy living. She even does consultations by 'phone, and I believe I'm correct in saying that she has become a franchise, whereby other people do 'phone readings on her behalf. Personally I don't think it's right. She's quite a clever act (cleverer than my parody suggests) but, like all psychics, she's still an act. And she makes money out of it.

when people die, many of them move on to another dimension ....

some people are not ready to die, and remain here .... these are the spirits/ghosts that some people with psychic abilities can see and communicate with

I also believe in reincarnation .... there is loads of credible info, showing children who are young, that recall past lives which includes people and places and time events with great accuracy that even astounds the sceptics

and that initself proves to me, that there is a life after death

But why would they go to all the trouble of 'coming through' just to make some inane remark about Uncle Sidney's socks? I mean, if spirits battled back to our dimension in order to tell us how to end third world hunger, or at least warn us about an impending tsunami, I might think that there was some point to it all. But I can't for the life of me think why they would go to all that bother just to talk gibberish about socks, budgies, goldfish and the like.

Exactly. After my step dad died, my mam started going to the spiritualist meetings, and paying good money I might add. Each week she'd come back with stories about some woman who was told by her relative that everything would be alright, or that so and so would like you to get the garden sorted as its been neglected and so on.

I suggested tactfully to my mam, that if I was a spirit and I wanted to get a message to a living relative, I wouldn't wait til thursday evening and then go to the club 5 miles away and tell some woman I'd never met to pass on my deeply personal message in front of a whole room full of total strangers.

When you die, your dead. Deal with it!

Psyhics and mediums just prey on weak, gullible and vulnerable people - usually in times of crisis if i had it my way they would be banged up with beggers and thieves!

              How do you know?

There are some cultures that don't believe in death at all, just transition from one state to another (yeah, alive to dead I hear you say:)).

I believe that. The 'me' of 20 years ago has long since gone. I don't even want to go to rave now even if I thought I could still do it. I don't want to wear the same clothes as I had then, even if I could. Only the essence of my character from back then still remains. Physically that person has also long gone. I look different now, and even the scientists tell us that no one cell in our bodies is over 8 years old, so there is nothing physically left of the me from 20 years ago. Yet I'm still here. Like death, a transition from one state to another. At some point I will inevitably pop my clogs for real, yet one way or another, whether its through reincarnation or something else, or just through people's memories of me or things I've done and left behind, the essence of me will still be about. See, no matter which way you look at it, no such thing as death.

People who believe in this kinda stuff always hide behind the "you cant prove there is nothing after death" line, i cant prove that santa is fake there could actually be a real santa who am i to say otherwise? But i choose to believe in logic and reason.

google your nearest spiritualist church (there may be one near where you live) ... contact them and ask them if you can attend a seance where they use an ouja board or glassy glassy

then come back here and tell us your findings and thoughts ... go on ... I dare you

There is nothing logical about believing in ghosts, infact its quite pathetic. I enjoy a good ghost story but its important not to get carried away or take it too seriously or people can get hurt.

Dim i have seen most haunted i know what its all about i prefer Derren Brown at least he is open about what he does.
