I'm getting really excited now - my B.sanguinea is about to bloom!

It has suffered from new flower buds dropping lately - could this be as a result of the extreme wet, or maybe the cold nights that we've suffered lately?

That's fantastic LongK. Its extreemly early - is it inside?

They say that sanguinea drops its buds if it gets too hot - perhaps its that. :heehee:

        Thanks chaps!

It has been outdoors for at least two months now, so not too sure that could have got too hot!!!!! All a bit of a puzzle, but I am rather inexperienced with them:scratch:

Is this an over-wintered plant or one from seed Keith?

Keith, your box looks similar to the one I bought at Aldi a couple of years ago for €2,95 ... but it turns out I have a David ???? which is a heady-scented yellow one which currently requires watering five times a day. I'm not complaining.

I'd have the right hump about that, although it is easy to jumble the plants around after they have been put out on display.

To be honest, I am quite pleased as I don't think the B sanguinea can take the heat here.

I just love that red Passion Flower also, do you know which one it is? I have had trouble germinating P quadrangularis and P foetida, but can't get rid of P caerulea much as I try!

That may well be a fair point Victoria, but no need to gloat about it!!!!!!!:hapydancsmil:

The Passion flower is P.alata - it is struggling even in the greenhouse, but has a few small buds forming.

I think if it had been warmer you might have even lost that one, I always found you get a few spring flowers and masses of buds forming in Autumn.
                    They love the rain.
I had one I planted out, flowering right up until the first hard frost killed it in December, a few years back.
So cold nights wont make the buds drop, but hot sun will.
