Take no notice of Hydrogen86. If you weren't so frugal with your wonga how else would you be able to retire to the Algarve?
Who should I send the ransom note to?

And they'll only continue to go up and up...a few decades from now, we'll be like: "Remember when Ramen noodles were only £5 a package?!" (This is funny since they are currently much less than that).

My first house was.......................this one, and I am still here.
My first property however was a maisonette, and the only chairs I could afford were 2 garden chairs (not deck chairs) but they made fish and chips taste so much better.(eating it from the paper, sitting in your lap)

My house was bought new in 1978 for the princely sum of £8750 and I'm still here. Buying the same today would be astronomical, why?, it's still the same building.:dunno:
Food prices were low but we never seemed to have enough money and my wife and I had one soft easy chair, no bed so we slept on coats on the floor........that's when you know you're lucky marrying the person you did.:love30::wub2:

He doesn't have a wife .... he is only 49 and does not like some one as slim as me ... :heehee:

We bought our current house for £25,000 in 1997 and it is probably worth ten times that ... ?

No, he's a good guy and does my 'back breaking' gardening for only €10 an hour.

I shop daily, as I get paid daily

I spend approx £20 a day at Tesco for food and the basics (2 adults and 2 teenagers) .... add tobacco and a lotto ticket, and a few scratchcards and it comes close to £30 per day

When I was at Uni, I had a holiday job in the kitchen of a (fairly) local restaurant. The Manageress lived near us and so gave me a lift to work each day - she stopped at a filling station one day, dug around in her bag for some coins, bought one gallon of petrol and handed over the correct money ................... 8s. 6d.:thud:
