Do it Jenny, in just a few days they'll be lovely compact plants again:dbgrtmb:...i stalled to cut mine back as i couldn't bear to see them go ...but i bit the bullet in the end and 5 days later they are looking good:dbgrtmb:

Potting up some forgetmenot plantlets that have sprung up in the wrong place, tittivating around the pond and cutting some of the foliage off the water lillies....they've gone mad.....Should have divided them in the spring really:doh:

As yesterday turned out a much drier day than promised I got quite a bit done :dbgrtmb:

Helped Mrs Shiney prune some of our lilac trees. Cut a quarter of an acre of lawn and started cutting the privet hedge. This is the third time this year I've cut the privet and, in the last two months it has grown nearly 3ft

This is a photo I took after giving it its main cut yesterday. I then had to rake off the rest of the clippings from the top and give it its tidying up cut. There's another 60ft of the hedge past what you can see in the picture but my 'get up and go' got up and went before I could finish the last 30ft.

:wow: That's a lot of clippings Shiney, what do you do with them all, surely it's to much to compost?

Almost all of it goes on the bonfire and the ash gets spread on the garden. The 'almost all' bit is because we rake up the bulk of it and what's left gets mowed up and onto the compost heaps.

I've got about three times as much laurel to cut and that gets burned as well.

I'm lazy and lay rolls of thin plastic dust sheet in the area where I cutting and then roll it up and shake the leaves loose on the Compost Heap.:heehee:

I cut the grass when I got home, little bit of weeding. With a move in a couple of weeks (Albeit not into the house, and father in law will be babysitting some plants) I have an adjuga (sp) going mad so have pinched a few fronds off. Know it's early but am going to attempt to take some cuttings tomorrow.

Today we actually have sunshine and a dry day forecast :dancy: so I shall be mowing the lawns, laying some bark chippings, potting up some roses and possibly moving a Camellia from the back garden to the front.

I would be pruning the dwarf lilac, but it looks like it's about to flower again.
