I watched when it came through my village, not because I'm at all interested in that sort of thing but because I wanted to take some photos for an enthusiastic elderly friend as it passed her house. Being out of town away from the main crowds it was relatively easy to get a couple of cracking shots - I've only just got around to taking my SD card into town this morning and getting her some proper prints to replace the initial ink jet print outs.

You may already know about this, but if you go to this website and click on the venue you were at there's video clips taken from one of the vehicles in the procession, so you can see what was happening either side of you, but they're not left on that website for ever, as I've just found the local one I previously watched is no longer there. If it wasn't day 62/3, select the appropriate date. You might even see yourself on the video!

I found it rather intriguing watching the video of the procession passing my gate to my plot outside the village, and seeing there was a police motorcycle in the gateway.

We watched it late this afternoon coming through Guildford and there is a very strange coincidence here:

We found out afterwards the runner was my South Korean twin! He is Cha Bum-Kun, a former South Korean footballer who played for his country 121 times, scoring a record 55 goals. He was named Asia's Player of the Century.

He was born the same year as me and for those who remember that BMI thread recently:

"Apparently I'm "most like someone from South Korea"

          Spooky or what! :hate-shocked:

The final torchbearer of the day was 82-year-old Austin Playfoot, who was a torchbearer when the Games were last held in London 1948. Sorry no photo of him but I thought it was brilliant they found someone with a connection to the last games held here.

I think the old 1948 torch was a far better design that those brassy looking ones this time round.
I can see why some are in a hurry to sell them.

I'm sure the plastic bits will get very brittle over time, so best get shot of now before they crumble.:WINK1:
