Yes lucidity might well account for the astral projections, and Lucidity is fascinating in its own right. I'd love to be able to lucid dream, but I am a little apprehensive about being conscious while I am asleep.

Its brilliant, but the first few times you try you get a splitting headache from the mental effort of trying to stop your mind thinking about anything. Its amazing how hard it is to stop thinking:)

Ive heard stories, people can fly, chat to their friends, and 'teleport' to other place in the world entirely. The imagination is simply amazing!

The special thing about lucid dreaming is that your mind is so clear that the dream you have are exceptionally realistic.. almost like walking life.. add to this that there is no limit in your imagination and well.. the fun you can have is wonderful.

Never managed to do it though..

Actually, Stephen, it can go the other way and then it can be cruel. I dreamt about being with my wife and it was so real that I was convinced that it was real......waking up was not a good experience.

Oh, Big A, I'm so sorry to hear this.

But I did say in this or another thread that I saw my mother walking toward me and when she went to touch me I 'broke the link' as it was so frightening. My t'other half was with me at the time and saw my anguish ... I DID see her and she was coming to tell me that everything in my life would be alright ... and that was some near-on 40 years ago and no one can convince me I did not see that.

My fault, I should have mentioned it in the previous post. My point being that dreaming can be a two edged sword. I really was convinced that every thing in the dream was real and everything was alright again in the world.....and as I said waking up was a nightmare. I guess there's always two sides to what seems to be a good thing.

Thanks Victoria, possibly my disbelief in the afterlife is underlined by another belief....that if there was such a thing my wife was such a strong character that she would have made it back if only to tell me off and to get on with life.

Yes, I'd forgotten about the cruel side. I once had one where everything in my life that was ever true was true now. That meant that people in my life who had now passed away were both alive and dead in my dream. It was confusing and awful, talking to people as though they were still alive, and stood right in front of me, yet knowing all to well that they weren't.

That was exactly my position, Clueless, I was so convinced that it really was real, and yet somewhere in the background was this little voice saying all was not well but not why. It was only when I woke up that I discovered the why. I also tend to dream in Technicolour, Vistravision and Dolby Sound and always have done. I do find that some recurring dreams tend to have a meaning about some thing in the past or present.
