    Hi everyone

I've got some plants in my garden and have no idea what they are or how to care for them. I've taken pics of each with some close ups. I'll post a reply with the rest

Hi Monsclara, they are all plants which are easy to grow, normally. You shouldn't expect problems. they all look healthy now. viburnum davidii in pic 6 will have blue berries, but I think there are male and female plants (you have to look this up, I am not exactly sure), but they fruit better if you have more than one. The snapdragon in pic 8 will most likely not survive the winter, but you can save the seeds and scatter next spring. pic 5 is a japanese anemone, quite vigorous.

Thanks Loveweeds. I love the colour of the snapdragon, which brings me to another question. I just saw dipladenia in the garden centre. Again I love the colour, and would like to use them as a climber. Do you know how they would manage in a sheltered patio?
As for the first four plants, are they mainly foliage or will they flower do you think?
    Thanks

No 4 & 5 looks like Sarcococca Confusa which will indeed flower in late winter (Jan/Feb time) and will smell divine. It'll show some berries before that.

It's a pretty tough plant, but does prefer shade for part of the day.

merleworld: Shade not an issue in Dublin! Although today has been beautiful. Loveweeds suggested that 5 is a Japanese Anemone?

Merleworld: Just realised you are referring to the pics as they are posted rather than the titles I've given them, sorry about the confusion.

Hi Monsclara, sorry dunno about this plant myself. You might best post a separate question, if no-one makes a comment in this thread.

Hi Loveweeds. Have looked around and discovered that Dipladenia is a Mandevilla
http://apps.rhs.org.uk/advicesearch/Profile.aspx?pid=713. Bad news is that it doesn't look suitable as a climber in terms of winter temperatures: looks like it needs to go in a greenhouse. What puzzles me is that Homebase (Dublin) had tons of them for sale and I don't know if there are as many greenhouses here to house them!
