What jobs are we doing today in the garden ?

But of course! She is barmaid after all (and doing a damn fine job of it too)!

Glad I am not the only one. I waited until there was nobody about to do the baskets at the front, wandered out with the hose, and the street filled up instantly - how did they know I was sneaking around in my PJ's?? Best of it is, since I have come back indoors, there hasn't been a soul out there

I've found my comfy spot on the sofa, recliner up, coffee (bacardi) table just to my right hand, and can see the TV screen over the top of the laptop screen - bliss.

Driveway - not overly sure about the two begonia bags under the baskets at the back on the trellis. Should I be making something more of this trellis next year??? Suggestions??




How the whole front looks. Is it bad that I want to get the lawnmower out and do the councils job on the pavement in front? Is it worse that I want to get more hanging bags next year and nail them to the telegraph pole that is just out of shot on the left of this picture?

The 'evictees' from the polytunnel - the ones in the terracotta colour pots were the ones I re-potted today from the black pots (kinda hoping that they will take a bit of a spurt now, and give me some nice toms)



Closer view - the tomato on the left is the one that has got new growth (top) on the end of a truss - looks the most healthy bit of the plant to me, so I couldn't bring myself to stop it growing.




In the process of doing all this, I managed to snap one of my capsicum plants (my fat bum is to blame) - and Murphy's law, it had to be the only one with a baby fruit on it




My dahlias are finally showing their faces


Starting to worry a bit about these evergreens though - are they the dreaded leylandii?? Should I be keeping them in check somehow? got to be honest, I don't like the things, but as I rent I can't do anything too radical without permission, so will have to live with them - but I don't want to let them turn into a social issue for us and the neighbours.

The two green conifers look like Elwoodii and the third one could be a golden version (but I've not heard of one). Elwoodii don't grow too big so won't be troublesome for a long time.

You should be able to tell by looking at the branches. If they come out from low down and grow vertical the that's what they are likely to be.

Well, after doing the privet and mowing yesterday, I did get round to doing an hour and a half of pressure hosing. Only another 30+ hours of hosing to go

This morning I was out there at 5.30 a.m. and worked on widening the flower beds. I wanted to get more done but the digging was difficult (for me ) as it was still quite claggy. Sliced the turf off, dug and tried to break it up, composted and dug again and then cut a nice sharp edge.

If I'm still able to stand tomorrow I'll make another section wider. I'll try and do some more mowing and pressure hosing today.

 

Changed my mind . I've just come in from doing the second section. Now I'm really knackered!
