Ear wigs love Dahlias Al n ,the old trick of a flowerpot stuffed with hay/straw/shredded paper might work, upended on a cane next to dahlia, gives them somewhere else to go ,then you destroy them

I thought they liked the flower middles - not leaves.
Advice and correction here please. If I'm wrong,

            Earwigs will eat anything juicy!

I'm not going to do anymore in the garden today. Did a bit of weeding before 6 a.m.. Then Mrs Shiney and myself went for a nice walk to the village, still had the early morning coolness, chatted with a few of the villagers (and their dogs), delivered a remedy for someone, went to the village shop, popped into the village florist to tell her we have a load of laurel for her to pick up, waledk round the two wildlife and conservation sites on the village green and got too hot walking home :).

Later on I'll do some watering and have a chat to the runner beans.
