i have in the past posted this for a missing teenager i knew her mother and i Knew the facts she had been missing for 4 days, she had friends and family in the devon area so i asked people on here to post on their FB and twitter to spread the word and included a picture she was found safe and well after a friend of hers saw the missing notices on and informed the family of her where abouts, but though she was found safe and well on that occasion, unfortunately she disappeared a few months later no missing plea went, and when she was found, she was dead here is the news paper after her death http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/w...nswers-after-apparent-suicide-91466-30740944/
so if i saw something again i would post and ask for the word to be spread

With all respect you've missed the point entirely. There was potentially a dead mother with a three year old locked in the house. As a worst case scenario if you think that makes the situation that the child's in fine then, well. Unbelievable.

I'm sure the Police realised there were flaws but as they deemed it fit to ask for help people stepped up to the mark until they were told otherwise.

If it was genuine and nothing had been done how would you feel as a member of society?

That's a heartbreaking story. What must her mum have been going through when her pleas were seemingly falling on deaf ears!?

      Nightmare Kaz:sad:

Watergarden. If the police were concerned enough to ask people to spread the word by social media then that was enough checking for me.

If they, with all their combined years of crime detection experience, were concerned enough to ask for help, that they genuinely beleived there was a 3 year old child at risk by being unattended in a house on her own, where anything could happen and with a dead or dying mother, who am I to decide that they were wrong?

I'd rather see a false alarm than a child at risk.

I brought up my first child on my own and the thought of something happening to me and her being stuck on her own in the house used to terrify me.

Goodness, this post reminds me of that post at the toll place where an e-cig was involved .... ? I know one has to be vigilant but things seem to get out of control without thorough investigations. :hate-shocked:

There was 5 hours between the article Zig originally posted, and the later article confirming it to be a hoax. If I'd seen Zig's post within that 5 hours, suspicions about the credibility of the article or not, I'd have posted it all over every forum and social site I use. I think its fair to check to see if there is any later info on the web before we do anything, but in the absence of such, I'd rather look like a plonker for posting a false alarm than turn a blind eye someone who may very well be in crisis.

So do we have a cut off time between a child in distress being reported and giving up & leaving it for someone to find a dehydrated corpse some weeks later?

7, 14, 21 hours? How long exactly would you leave it?

This is a forum, you have your opinion, I have mine, I don't see the point of arguing which is what you seem to be trying make me do. (I always thought better of you than that)
