A bit of nostalgia - Commodore 64 meets modern kids

As per title really. This made me smile. Basically a chap takes his Commodore 64 into a school to see what today's kids make of it.

I never had a C64. I had an Amstrad CPC464 instead, with a green screen monitor

I only had a Spectrum at home, I remember being really pleased when I wrote a program for a clock & it actually worked.

At work in 1979, we had to load the program into the desk sized computer with tickatape, slightest crease or nick in the tape meant it had to be re loaded. Think the computer was called a 10/80

 

That brings back memories Clueless. I had one of those, as the chap says a nightmare to load, but on the other hand less to go wrong.

 

Tick-a-tape Zigs, those were the days! We used to make our Christmas decorations for the office out of the used and unwanted tapes as well.

 

No such joy in Bonkleys Bank, it was all destroyed as confidential waste, lest the auditors got their hands on it.

 

That's actually where I worked Ziggy. But some of the tape was rendered useless and that's what we used.

 

i never had a computer of any sort until 1998 i bought it between my four children for Christmas it cost me over a grand and i laughed my socks off when they all expected me to know how the darn thing worked

 

Anyone remember the metal calculators that you could do Pounds, Shillings & Pence with? Had a metal pokey thinger to move the columns up & down.

 

That may be a smaller version of what I can remember - the Burroughs comptometer which looked more like a cash till with buttons, levers and handles



Then we got something like this in the office which had valves in it

Thing i'm thinking of was hand held, about 2 inches wide by 6 inches and about quarter inch thick. Made of aluminium.
