What Jobs Are We Doing in the Garden Today... MK2..

Picked blueberries and had some in a smoothie at breakfast. Cleared out the first two plantings of peas and saved the last of these for drying/freezing. Lifted a haulm of King Edward tatties - good crop too. Picked our first tomatoes - yippee!!!!! Lifted a clump of leeks that I'd planted as left-overs, they're now cooked as part of a batch of cock a leekie soup. Fed all the tomato plants with home brew comfrey fertiliser (spilled some on my sandals while decanting so they now smell horrible!) and then sprayed cucs for the second time with neem oil to zap the red spider mite that started showing 10 days ago.
It was hot and sunny so I even got the hoe out, but looks like heavy rain tomorrow so efforts may have been largely wasted

 

Weeding, sown some winter cabbage, planted the last of my summer cabbage ( see what happens) and sown some spinach.

sounds good Shiney. Well I am mainly doing tidying as my leg won't allow me to do much

 

Yesterday, watered greenhouse ,picked some beans for freezing plenty enough for me this year despite losing 33% of plants,did a little tidying as heavy rain forecast for p.m.,which it did . Strolled down to P.O a.m.. picked a kilo of blackberries on way back,bushes really laden this year,froze those,watched lympics .

I've mowed the lawn and dug out the heavy clay soil, then planted out my Gertrude Jekyll. So muggy here, it's horrible.

 

Watered every thing whilst munching on me chillis

 

I was going to give everything a soak, but we have lots of thunder so think a downpour may be on its way.

 

Planted some yellow and blue iris donated to me in the pond!
Trimmed all the privet hedge, then started mowing the lawn, then the biggest down pour stopped me in my tracks!
Looks like will have to finish tomorrow now

 

I finished the bench I made for me and the wife; I carved out a celtic symbol for everlasting love on it; which I also have as a tattoo, not too 'in your face' but just how I wanted it. It's also had two coats of yacht varnish and I'm pleased with the finished bench...
