    Hello all.
I'm a first time tomato plant grower and I am growing eight plants in a green plastic greenhouse. Until a few days ago they all seemed to be doing really well, were flowering all over and tomatoes were beginning to show. Then suddenly, almost overnight they developed black spots all over and now the flowers are just falling off and the plants look as if they are dying.
Any ideas what it could be?

    thanks

      Good afternoon Captain,
I have grown tomatoes for the first time this year and have had scares, tears and laughs.
I have vowed to give up and go back to knitting on occasion. Hoping it's not bad news,
come and have a sit in the Gardeners Corner, :sign0016:

Good afternoon to you too Jenny. I have tomatoes growing all over the place.. 17 plants in all. Some inside on the window ledge, some outside and then those in the greenhouse. The rest are growing great.. I've posted a snap of one on the window that I have counted over a hundred toms on. It's only the plants in the greenhouse that have caught the black death..

          cheers

Blimey yes it looks like it.

spray your remaining ones with Bordeaux mixture ASAP, otherwise it will take the lot out in a matter of days.

Copper based fungicide, won't soak into the plants or fruit if you are worried about that, you just have to wash it off before eating.

Its a good defence against blight, but you have to spray the plants before they get infected. Available from garden centres/nurseries, but hurry before its too late.

thanks again Zigs, I'll get that first thing in the morning. I just went out and had another close look at the plants and although a good two thirds of the way up all the plants are covered in spots and look terminal, there is new growth on top that looks healthy enough, so perhaps it's not too late after all.. All we can do is try eh?
            cheers

No worries Captn' Spraying the infected plants will slow it down, but, like 28 days later, they'll all turn into Zombies in the end:snork:

It occurs to me that it would be prudent to make sure you don't spread infection from the GH to the others. Wash your hands before handling the good ones - a bit like a hospital ward infection. If they were mine, I would spray all of them.
I've only got 3 in a pot on the patio and 4 in each of 2 window boxes.
              Good luck,

From the pictures, I'm not 100% sure it's blight. Cap'n, is it also on the stems?
