Truth be known, we're all learning. But in a way, it's the disappointments that fuel the desire to do/hope for better. Although my toms are fruiting and taste good, they are the most spindly things I've ever grown. Ah well, there's always next year;):blue thumb:

We sometimes forget that we're on the edge of the growing zones for a lot of things. Some plants do well in a good summer but can fail badly with the sort of summer we've had so far.

Ahh well, back to eating Neeps again.

I've not heard them called neeps for years! In fact, I didn't even know that neeps was used in the southern half of the country?

Also known as tumshies where I come from (Jack and a few others will know what I am banging on about - honest!)

Think it differs from Turnips to Sweeds between the North & South:snork:

Aye, they are definitely different north to south. I had never seen what is commonly known as a turnip in England until I moved here (EDIT - in fact, I still haven't eaten one)

What is known as a swede in England, I grew up calling a turnip, tumshie or neep:

We even used them for halloween lanterns when I was a kid (plenty of parents losing finger ends hollowing them out!)

Oh for goodness sake FC. The top one is a TURNIP and the lower one a SWEDE.
I only like the lower one and only with a homemade Steak and Kidney pudding.
And this is the Tomato thread, we must set a good example to Newbies who may be peeping,

No Jenny, it is different if you live in Scotland.

Good luck with it mate - I sort of fast during the day most days, but that isn't by choice, its simply not having time to eat until dinner time.

I tried a really strict diet a few years back - months I was on it, and I didn't lost a pound, so chucked it. Nowadays, its a case of anything goes in moderation.

But its not just about that.

We are looking at a way of avoiding the usual pitfalls of later life.

It is more than a carbohydrate isn't it. I don't think the liver enjoys it much?
