I also gave my apple tree a summer prune, it's grown an incredible amount this year, some of the new shoots were a good 4ft in length...

Just dead heading today, no need to water after a torrential downpour this afternoon.
Made a sandpit for the little one. He's a happy boy now :snork:
Bilbo the bench looks fantastic, people would pay very good money for a bench of that quality!

Sorry Kaz, but my DIY head is still in overdrive :heehee:, today I knocked up this Sparrow Terrace bird box; not quite finished, needs painting and a couple of hanging brackets, but I'm really pleased with it :dbgrtmb:

Yesterday after heavy overnight rain it brightened up and got quite hot so I spent an hour watering weed killer into one of our lawns to kill the clover that's been steadily spreading this year.
BIG BIG MISTAKE! About an hour after I'd finished the job the sky turned black and we had a deluge of rain for about 3 hours so it looks like my work was probably all in vain :gaah:

Weeding and feeding again. Deadheading and collecting seeds ready for the seed swop. Checked on my nettle feed and nearly threw up with the smell and the maggots in it. Cut lawns and turned compost heap.

FINALLY finished potting up my Box cuttings (taken in Autumn 2010, and started potting up this Spring). About 800 I think ... just HAD to tell someone :)

The ones potted up in the Spring are ready for potting on, as are the hedge plants I bought as cell-plants last Autumn. They are HUGE compared to the ones I planted straight out, but struggling in their 1L pots. About 800 of those to pot on too ...

Two new plants to pot up today. They were chosen by my husband in memory of his mum who died recently.
Usually at this time of year I am fed up with my garden but this year it's so lush and flourishing it's a joy to be out there.

Could this thread become "monthly" - like the "What's looking good in August" one?

Just struck me that it would be handy to easily look back to August's in previous years.

cigarette for someone to have to do though ... I suppose I could just post a LINK to the thread-topic's of previous years instead ...
