So, what is the issue with Moneymaker then? I only picked that particular seed packet because it was one of the few varieties that I remembered.

For next year, what variety should I be looking at for a heavy cropping, easy growing all rounder tomato? NOT cherry toms though - I prefer them bigger.

Also, are beef tomatoes hard to grow?

As promised, a pic of the overwintered tomato plant. Not doing brilliant, but better than my other sad offerings this year.

The Shirley, that snapped in half and I stuck the top half in the ground, now has three set trusses, very healthy though half the height of the others
I think I will snap more off in the future :-)

I've stripped most of the leaves off mine to gain any sun that might be available. Sun Gold are producing a reasonable amount but Gardeners Delight are not even worth a picture, a pathetic crop, if you can call it that. The yield is down considerably this year.

Let me jump on this one.
It's my first experimental year with tomatoes. I grew them in the summer greenhouse, as we are in a mountainous area, it's cooler at night, and this slows ripening.

I cannot come with a varietal name, but I've loved them since I was a child. My grandma grew them in her village garden.
No chemistry in the whole process, just well rotten cow manure, which I worked in the soil in autumn and in spring, shovelling deep. :)

          These will get huge...

And they taste like heaven: fresh, sweet, still warm with the sun...

My mouth is watering Angelina. They look so happy and strong and I can almost taste them !!
Please, will you grow next year - from seeds you have saved from your own plants?

Jenny, that's the idea: to start them from my own seeds. :blue thumb:

Ziggy, I don't think I qualify for the Competition: your country is hosting the 2012 Olympics, so 'Olympic-size tomatoes' must be of UK origin. ;)

However, I will gladly exchange tomato seeds for flower seeds, if anyone feels interested.

A neighbour gave me a couple of tomato plants earlier this year. I was just coming here to share my crop with you - looking at everyone else's photos maybe I should stick to fuchsias and begonias. And I was so proud...!:cry3::biggrin: Plant1.JPG Plant2.JPG
