"Liquid manure" is an old gardeners method. Doesn't mean to say it is any good by modern standards, but I expect the old boys tried, and compared, this-and-that.

But I'm with you that personally I would prefer to use it as a soil conditioner / mulch. FWIW stuff that I mulch with manure grows a lot better than stuff that I mulch with, say, bark.
