I've now got another new and interesting disease - two my fruits have gone dry, shrivelled & brown, but the rest of my truss is OK:

There are about 16 green toms on my one decent plant this year. Had 3 ripe ones already.

Stopped this one this morning. Remember last year?

Freddy, Shame you've got it too :(

My Rosada were outdoors, tonight I've pulled up 3 X Rosada and 3 X Siberian plants that were all affected by this black stem rot. All I'm left with outdoors are two Ferline plants which had a few black spots on their leaves, so I've removed those leaves just in case.

All my greenhouse plants are so far not affected.

The plants I've pulled up and destroyed tonight had trusses like that, some fruit looked OK but others were brown. I assumed it's the same thing, Black Stem rot? But if the rest of your plant stems are OK then maybe that is another problem.

            Hi chums.

It's real depressing ain't it? Because I went for Sungold and Rosada in the greenhouse, I don't have the 'poundage' as in previous years, and was relying on the outdoor ones to make up for this. Fat chance now eh? Although I have a 13ft x 10ft greenhouse, I only use one side, which houses 14 plants. Next year, I plan to erect a kinda 'lean-to' at the end of the greenhouse, along the width. I reckon I should be able get another 6 plants, maybe. I'll probably go for a 'regular' type, maybe Alicante. Although, Ferline would be a good choice as they go to a good size, and taste great. Well, they did last year, but those were grown outdoors. I'll still try some more outdoor ones, but I don't want to be so reliant on them.

Loli, don't give up on the outdoor ones just yet, it's been a particularly bad year this year. I had blight the year before last, so last year I used Bordeaux Mixture, and found it very effective. I haven't bothered with it this year, because of all the rain, but normally it should help keep the blight away:blue thumb:

            Cheers...Freddy

Freddy, I'm getting more than enough from 11 tomato plants in my greenhouse. My extra outdoor ones would have been a late season bonus and I was hoping to process and freeze those.

At least we both have Ferline remaining outdoors, so not all is lost :)

I'm guessing you don't just have small varieties in there? My wife LOVES toms, so she can happily munch her way through anything I can produce:biggrin:
