I've not been interested in boxing since they made it safe.
Once they take away the opportunity to hurt the opponent the whole thing becomes a farce.

 

Part of me thinks the same is true of any boxing, male or female. Its all about bashing people's faces in at the end of the day, which is not a nice thing.

However, another part of me says its a sport. Unlike a pub fight, the participants both choose to be in it and can get out of it any time they wish, and they abide by strict rules, and are supervised etc etc.

There's a sad fact about animal nature (which includes human nature) that I've noticed over the years. Everyone has some pent up aggression. Its got to be better if that aggression is vented in a totally controlled situation rather than in the street or a pub.

 

Since the likes of Nigel benn et al, it's become boring. It used to be a brilliant sport, but lately......

If a couple of blokes want to knock seven shades of sh*t out of one another in the name of 'sport', well let them but I agree that there's something nasty about women boxing or indeed weightlifting - although to me, even these aren't quite as bad as women body builders, the sight of which is just ...... repugnant, hideous and so very, very wrong.

 

I'm amazed that a "sport" in which the object is to knock your opponent unconcious is still allowed in a civilised society. It's bad enough men doing it, but women.........
