apparently this is how to grow them
Seed germination, sowing instructions for Aconites. Aconitum napellus is easy to grow from seeds. This plant is a cold-germinator. The sowing must be kept cold for a period of some weeks (refrigerator) or you sow them in very early spring or autumn. Mix the seeds with damp sand in a plastic bag. The sowing must be kept warm (about 20 degrees C / 64 to 72 degrees F and moist for the first 2-4 weeks. After this period place it in your refrigerator at a temperature of 5 degrees C (between 25 and 39 degrees F) for 5 to 6 weeks. After that take the bag out and keep it at room temperature. Check for sprouted seed regulary.

Kaz - thats a very kind offer. I do have some thank you, but just wanted to point out that it is a perennial - which to my mind makes it a lot more valuable plant. Its also poisonous - but that really shouldn't be a problem. Actually so many plants in the garden are poisonous - we just don't know about it.

But then chocolate is also poisonous to humans. About 3 kilo in one sitting could be fatal. But I don't even worry about that. I just try to keep below that figure. :heehee:

Kaz - what I meant is that, for me at least, I consider a perennial plant to be more useful in the garden than an annual one. With an annual you have to keep collecting seed and resowing, whilst a perennial will appear next year without you having to take any action.
