Ah, I see, thanks. The twine is attached to various parts of the plant. I was thinking you meant to just twist twine around each individual flower stem and I though "that's not very rigid" !! Mea culpa!

Much nicer, visually, than staking & tying each individual flower

Yes, it's not actually tied to any of the plant but looped around it. If the plant is too heavy in one direction then you may need to put a sturdy stake in the ground and tie the circle of twine or string around that. Alternatively, if there is a tree alongside the string can be looped around it.

Hi Shiney, Hydrangeas have not played a big part in my garden until the last couple of years. The H. Annabelle was only planted last year so it's not done badly for it's first year. I've had to support it with canes and twine as the flowers are so heavy. I'm not a great lover of the "pink/blue" Hydrangeas as on my neutral soil they're neither one or nor the other, so white Hydrangeas are the ones for me!!:snork:

We went to Gocek,Turkey in September 2010 and these flowers were growing in the Town square. The seed pods open and display their wares very clearly and you can tip the ripe ones into your hand. I brought back white, pale pink, cerise pink and yellow. Pictures this evening of the open flowers - awaiting night moths with long tongues to reach down into the trumpets to feed. Mirabilis Jelapa- 4 o'clock plant or Marvel of Peru's flower opens as the sun goes down or on dull days. It closes if the sun shines on it. I have plenty of seeds left so will put them in the seed swap thread. Rose and Mirabilis Jalapa 003.JPG Rose and Mirabilis Jalapa 004.JPG

This is Little William. He's never sure which face to show to the world so he displays them all at the same time. A nice little plant.
