    Never grown cucumbers before so I thought I'd pick up some seeds this year, an outdoor variety and a few months later here we are, the first of many hopefully, I have four plants absolutely covered in baby cucumbers from half an inch to about 6 inch like this one;

      Not a bad result there Bilbo.

      Mine in the greenhouse have only now started to look like they're going to produce. I doubt if I'll bother with them in the future, although I may well try some outdoors:blue thumb:

          Thanks Freddy & Zigs, I have them growing in an extra large grow bag that has room for 4 plants, I've grown them up against the fence round the veg patch and they've sort of sprawled out on the floor too.

          Do you/can you stop the growing tips at some point to ensure the development of the cucumbers or shall I just leave them to it??

          Cheers :dbgrtmb:

              Dunno about outdoor Cues (I haven't grown them for many many years) but for indoor they seem to be self-correcting. After they have about 4 Cues forming on the plants all new flowers go yellow and drop off without setting properly - until you pick one of the Cues.

              (So seems reasonable to me to restrict any Cue plant that is not self-correcting so that it only carries what it can bear)

              I've just picked a carrier bag of outdoor Marketmore cucumbers this morning, up to 3 per plant. I've grown these for over 20 years and have never even heard of the need to restrict their growth.

              All I have done so far is take the tips out of some of the long side shoots and I'm currently harvesting between 2 and 4 cucumbers every few days and there's LOADS more coming :biggrin:

              Two more ready to be picked;
