Lobelia Cardinalis Trouble

Please can anyone help me , been waiting so long for this plant to flower and when it`s finally almost in blom , someone eated all the stem , very strange .

 

I see that you are not used to critters chewing your stems - lucky guy.

 

Looks like slugs or snails

 

most of the plants I`ve got are tropical and most of all poisonous , plus I tend to keep only pest free plant , I think it`s a slag as the pond is the only area that don`t use slugs pallets .

 

Slugs can't swim! Is it actually in the pond?

 

Longk , the plant is not in the pond , seriously I`ve never seen such of a damage from a slug .

 

They can be like hyenas, only smaller and more sticky...

 

Lobelia stems are very fibrous, so they struggle to get beyond the top layer. Looks worse than it is.
Does it perk up at night? I've had this kind of damage often and it usually doesn't lead to this wilting. The wilting could be down to too hot, roots being too dry, or a combination of both.

 

I use them a pond marginal , can even put snails pallet because of the fish i was thinking to use a glass with beer , before any funny guy will comment .
Beer to drown the slugs not making them drunk and happy

 

One of mines completely stripped to the stalk but the one i have in the pond is fine..not flowered but intact not been a great yr this yr
