      Great pictures. Woo, spiders glide so that's good enough :dbgrtmb:

      No close ups and these are a bit fuzzy :sad:

      For the last month or so we have had a lot less birds in the garden than we usually have. The female pheasants are rarely in the garden July and August but the male still turns up a few times a day - and we had one young female wandering around on the patio.

      What have been missing, in particular, are the greenfinches. There are normally many dozen of them queuing up on the willow tree and waiting their turn at the feeders but there have been almost none of them for five weeks! A couple of days ago they came back :hapydancsmil:. They're messy eaters and throw seed all over the lawn. This works well for the other birds who pick them up from the ground.

      The bird feeders are about 50ft from the kitchen, where I take my photos, so I don't get close ups. At the moment they're clearing out the feeders in 24 hours :rolleyespink: - except the peanut feeder which is used mainly by woodpeckers.

      You can see the size of the biggest feeder in these two pictures.

      We rarely see any starlings but occasionally get a flock of them flying in for about half an hour. We haven't seen any this year until a couple of days ago and they suddenly a flock turned up and only stayed long enough to have a good feed and a bath. It was funny watching them, literally, queuing up for a bath. They didn't fight but only took about 10 seconds each for their bath. Then flew off.

        The Pheasants have maybe been going undercover....glorious 12th and all...not daft our birds:dbgrtmb:....they'll probably come out now the coast is clear:th scifD36:
        Aw starlings....i think they get bad press but not enough of them around these days:frown:
        To me they make marvellous gardeners....sorting out the crane fly larvea in lawns...ok so they get carried away sometimes but i'd still like to see more of them:dbgrtmb:

        Our pheasants used to nest in the garden when Oscar was here but the other cats have now frightened them away from nesting. :sad:

        The babies even used to play around him.

          Great to see so many Chaffinches and Greenfinches Shiney.:blue thumb:
          Wot no Pheasants?:biggrin:

          We have two nyjer seed feeders with only two ports on each, now we are getting 10 Siskins, mum dad and their two broods of 5 plus up to 4 Goldfinches!! Bit of a dilema so I've ordered a 16 port feed to keep them all happy, the things we do......

          Not much of interest here apart from a massive gang of sparrows, the occasional influx of starlings and two generations of blackbirds that think we are here to feed them on demand! I sit down for a cuppa in the garden and find a blackbird at my feet looking at me waiting for a raisin or six :)

            No, we haven't had the female pheasants, when they have their young, since Oscar went as they don't trust the other cats.

            They were always happy to be around Oscar as he chased the other cats away if they were being bothered.

              New nyjer feeder arrived today, should be room for all and it has a tray underneath.
              Like you Dave we are inundated with Sparrows, upto 30 mostly juveniles and 10 plus Starlings.
