As promised, here it is before anyone attacks it with a knife. Smelt divine whilst it was cooking:

And for those with bottom fetishes (not looking at anyone in particular, Freddy :snork:)

Oh yes, got to have a bit of butter on it - it toasts up nicely too, especially if sliced nice and thick :)

Its a dead easy recipe too - happy to post if you want it, and you can try it with your jam?

              1 tsp yeast
              400g (14oz) Strong Wholemeal Flour
              2 tsp sugar
              75g (3oz) Butter
              1 tsp salt
              2 tsp cinnamon
              1tsp mixed spice
              2 medium eggs
              120ml water
              120 ml milk
              150g (5oz) mixed dried fruit

Set breadmaker for Wholewheat, Bake, Raisin and you are off. Takes 5 hours in mine.
If you don't have a nut/raisin dispenser, add the fruit when the beep sounds for you to do so. :)

Recommended warm, buttered or even toasted.

PS - If you would rather a white loaf, simply switch the wholemeal flour for white strong, and drop the water and milk to 110ml each. :) - its an hour quicker too.

Personally GC, I would do 300 gram wholemeal and 100 gram white. I'm in no hurry when it comes to bread baking as I set it up to bake overnight. And a French loaf is good on a six hour bake.
Enjoy your fruit loaf with your family. As you said, it makes superb toast, if there's any left for morning,
                Jenny

Reading all of the aboves has made me think about resurrecting my bread machine - now where did I put it? I think it's in one of the garden sheds - hope I haven't used it for a planter!

Ours has taken a bit of a beating this week, as we are still on holiday from work - although, I must confess that I gave it a rest today in favour of the rolls from the local shop (it is the only shop I've found that sells rolls that are the same as I was brought up with - I don't know what it is, but Scottish rolls seem to be so much better than the English ones, and this shop sells Scottish style rolls!)

I got some maple syrup and pecan nuts in Tesco earlier, so I can make a maple pecan loaf tomorrow, so the breadmaker will be pressed back into service. :)
